Congress Alleges Widespread Fudging of Voter Lists Ahead of Bypolls in Madhya Pradesh
While matching the electoral rolls with the actual voters in both the poll bound constituencies, large numbers of voters were found to be enrolled in two to three pooling booths, Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee president Arun Yadav said.

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee president Arun Yadav has alleged substantial anomalies in the voter list prepared ahead of by-elections at Munagoli and Kolaras, claiming that the party has found that at least 20,000 suspect people enrolled at two or more polling booths.

Both the assembly seats will go to the polls on Feb 24.

While matching the electoral rolls with the actual voters in both the poll bound constituencies, large numbers of voters were found to be enrolled in two to three pooling booths, Yadav said.

Further, he alleged, the election officers deliberately did not make available pictorial voter lists available to Congress.

Nonetheless we managed to track around 20,000 such cases-around 12000-13000 in Mungaoli and around 8000 in Kolaras, he said.

“This goes beyond Mungaoli and Kolaras and stretches to the whole MP,” Yadav said.

Yadav said the party had lodged a complaint in this regard to Election Commission along with the documentary proof but no process of rectifying the electoral rolls has started. This has given an impression that under pressure from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, the Election Commission is all set to conduct polls through the ‘fudged’ voter lists, he said.

Prominent anomalies presented by Yadav included enrollment of voters with similar picture and similar identity proof at three to five polling booths, a single voter enlisted with different names at separate booths, kids aged around 15 years have found place in the lists at places, there are large numbers of voters with same photograph but with different credentials and so on.

The party also referred to alleged efforts from the ruling BJP to influence the bypolls including induction of ministers from particular caste into Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s cabinet and his farmers convention where a series of sops were announced.

We also demand revision of the voter lists for the 2018 assembly polls, he said. Our senior leaders would revisit ECI with the complaint in New Delhi on Saturday, Yadav added.
