A Law Ministry note has suggested that amendment be made as soon as possible in Mines and Minerals act.
New Delhi: More uncomfortable questions have cropped up for Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his office in connection with the coal blocks allocation scam. A note by the Law Ministry in 2006 said that changes were needed to be made in the Mines Act to provide for competitive bidding.
The Law Ministry note suggested that amendment be made as soon as possible in Mines and Minerals act.
With regard to note, the opposition parties are questioning why the Prime Minister, who was also the coal minister in 2006, was in a hurry to allocate coal blocks.
