New Delhi: In an Internet-based move to bring Union Budget 2013-14 to the people, Finance Minister P Chidambaram will take questions on its proposals Monday on a multi-party online video conference on Google+ Hangout. It will be the first time any cabinet minister will use the Internet to interact with citizens and to answer queries on the Union Budget, a Finance Ministry release said on Sunday.

Chidambaram will respond to netizens' questions on Budget 2013-14 at 8 pm on Monday. He will be joined by a select group of panellists including Jahangir Aziz, senior Asia economist and India chief economist at JP Morgan; Anand Mahindra, CMD Mahindra & Mahindra; Amit Singhal, senior vice-president, Google Inc. and Manish Chokhani, CEO, Axis Capital.

In 2012, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi had used Google Hangout to connect with voters during his election campaign. Google+ Hangouts are multi-party video chats that allow up to 10 people to participate at the same time. The hangout can be later shared on YouTube or streamed live using Hangouts on Air.

Citizens can submit their questions before the hangout by uploading a video, by commenting on the YouTube channel or through the Google India Page and tagging text or a video with the hashtag #askthefm, the Ministry said.
