Patna: The Bahujan Samaj Party's (BJP) Lok Sabha candidate Arjun Ravidas was on Wednesday arrested in connection with the killing of 10 policemen in Bihar's Nawada district last month.
Ravidas, the BSP's candidate in the Jamui Lok Sabha seat, was arrested when he reached the district administration office in Jamui, about 200 km from here, to collect posters and nomination forms, said an official.
Ravidas, who is contesting elections for the first time, was wanted for his involvement in the Maoist attack on a police team in Nawada, about 170 km on February 9.
Three suspected Maoist rebels had been arrested in connection with the incident.
According to police, over 100 armed Maoists ambushed an 18-member police party in a village in Nawada district. Ten policemen were killed, including Rameshwar Ram, the officer in-charge of the Kauakaul police station who was invited to chair a function to honour Hindu saint Ravidas at Mahuliatand village.
