Lucknow: BJP would observe a "condemnation day" across Uttar Pradesh on February two in protest against the Mayawati government's "conspiracy" to "falsely implicate" its senior leaders in a case relating to release of a communally sensitive CD ahead of assembly polls in the state.
State BJP spokesman H.N.Dixit said here today that his party would not remain silent on the the "conspiracy" to malign senior party leaders and would take to streets to register its protest.
"The state police is acting under pressure of the BSP government which is reflected in varying statements by senior police officials in the CD matter", he alleged.
The state government had yesterday ordered a CBI probe into the CD after an FIR, naming BJP chief Rajnath Singh and senior party leader Lalji Tandon and six others, was lodged on the directive of the Election Commission on the charge of violation of the model code of conduct last year.
"Chief Minister Mayawati has deliberately tried to implicate a very senior party leader", Dixit charged.
He also alleged the BSP government had failed on all fronts and was trying to divert the attention of the people from its failures.
