New Delhi: Continuing its attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh in the multi-crore Vyapam scam, the Congress on Wednesday alleged that leaders of both the outfits had shared the scam money.
Congress alleged that Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan and RSS leader Suresh Soni benefited from the scam. Congress leaders also alleged that Pradhan got an air ticket from a Vyapam accused and demanded his resignation along with Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
Addressing a press conference in the national capital, Randeep Singh Surjewala said, "Vyapam's ill-gotten money soiled in the blood of innocents was shared by BJP-RSS leaders. Kingpin of Vyapam Sudhir Sharma along with Lakshmikant Sharma shared Vyapam money with Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, BJP Vice President Prabhat Jha and his sons, BJP MP A Dave and RSS leader Suresh Soni."
The Congress reiterated that a fair probe into Vyapam scam was not possible unless the BJP leaders resigned from their post in Madhya Pradesh.
Surjewala said, “Continuous series of murders in Madhya Pradesh Vyapam scam proves that Chouhan will not let the authorities conduct a fair probe."
Alleging that the Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister had tried to “mislead" the state Assembly on the probe, the Congress said that Chouhan had claimed that there were no irregularities, but FIR copies showed otherwise.
“There were several FIRs against imposter students in Indore, Bhopal and other places, but the Chief Minister claimed otherwise," said Surjewala.
Congress further dismissed Madhya Pradesh government's claim that forensic investigations were carried out in Hyderabad, pointing that RTI pleas revealed that no such investigation was done. The party demanded immediate resignation of Chouhan as Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister.
The fresh attack by the Congress party comes just days after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) took over the probe into the multi-crore Vyapam scam, following a Supreme Court order. The apex court has sought a reply from CBI on if it should monitor the probe by July 24.
