A Rajasthan BJP leader, who questioned Z-plus security cover to RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat on a social networking site, resigned from party post "in the interest of the Sangathan".

A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader in Rajasthan, who questioned Z-plus security cover provided to Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on a social networking site, on Wednesday resigned from party post "in the interest of the Sangathan".

"My comments offended many so I decided to resign today in the interest of the Sangathan," Kailash Nath Bhatt, a party spokesperson, told reporters in Jaipur.

He also posted his resignation, addressed to party state president Ashok Parnami, on his Facebook account.

Commenting on the Z-plus security cover to the RSS chief, the BJP leader had posted on Facebook, "You (Bhagwat) should consider whether this security will make you inaccessible to ordinary swaymasevaks and will not be called a status symbol?"

In his post, Bhatt had also said that even security personnel were not secure while mentioning killing of soldiers in a recent ambush in Manipur.
