Andhra: Naidu makes a comeback as CM after 10 years, Jagan fights hard only to lose
Polling for 17 Lok Sabha and 119 Assembly seats in Telangana region was held in April 30 and for 25 Lok Sabha and 175 Assembly seats across 13 districts in Seemandhra on May 7.

Hyderabad:One of the biggest surprises of this election is return of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief N Chandrababu Naidu. Many in the political circles of AP were already preparing his political obituary. Most in Seemandhra had no doubt over the victory of the YSRCP led by Y S Jaganmohan Reddy. For them, his victory was almost a done deal.

After dillydallying for months, Naidu finally tied up with the BJP in both Andhra and Telangana. It was his return to the NDA fold after 10 years.

The alliance also almost collapsed even before it could take off. Finally, the TDP-BJP went to polls as alliance partners.

The TDP-BJP alliance has failed in Telangana. But, it has delivered a shocking defeat to Jagan Mohan Reddy in Andhra.

The TDP-BJP alliance has won 95 Assembly seats in 175 member assembly. The YSRCP which gave a good fight has managed to win just 62 seats. The Congress has failed to win even a single seat.

The others won 2 seats.

In Lok Sabha, the TDP-BJP alliance has won 15 seats and the YSRCP has won remaining 10 seats.

Chandrababu Naidu is likely to take charge as the Chief Minister of residuary state of AP next week. After his victory Naidu said "Me and Narendra Modi will work together and build the Seemandhra from scratch".

Commenting on the cases Jagan Mohan Reddy facing, he said "my fight is not personal. The law will take its own course".

A visibly shaken Jagan Mohan Reddy who reluctantly came out of his house said "I will fight for the people. Will build and strengthen the party. We will come to power in 2019".

He added "I congratulate the winners. The Modi wave worked here as well. We started off with just one MP and one MLA. The people have believed TDP's false promises. We will be a strong opposition".

Jagan camp is shocked by the defeat of his mother Y S Vijayamma in Visakhapatnam. She lost to an unknown candidate of the BJP T Haribabu. Many of Jagan's close aides have also lost the election.
