Hyderabad: The Budget Session of Andhra Pradesh Legislature got off to a fiery start on Monday with the Opposition parties staging a walk out during the customary address by Governor ESL Narasimhan to the joint session of the Assembly and Council.
The principal Opposition TDP protested the Governor's "failure" to dismiss the ministers facing allegations of corruption and the overall inaction on part of the Kiran Kumar Reddy government in addressing various issues of public concern.
Telangana Rashtra Samiti, which is the prominent votary for separate statehood, along with BJP and CPI lamented the omission of the demand for carving out Telangana in the Governor's address, while the CPI and the CPM raised their pitch over non-distribution of relief to farmers in the drought-hit regions of the state.
TRS members were on their feet soon after Narasimhan began his address at 9:30 am and tore away the copies of his speech.
They flung the torn paper pieces at the Governor even as a strong posse of plain-clothed security personnel took care to ensure the paper missiles did not land on Narasimhan.
TRS members also shouted 'Governor go back' but Narasimhan continued his speech. At the same time, the TDP members stormed the podium holding placards and raising slogans against the corrupt ministers.
As the Governor remained undeterred and continued with his address, TRS, TDP, CPI, CPM and BJP members walked out of the House.
Subsequently, the Governor went on to complete his 40-page address without further hitch.
The Budget for the financial year 2012-13 will be tabled in the Assembly on February 17.
