Ahead of assembly elections in West Bengal, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has announced full support to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Bannerjee. The former UP chief minister said SP workers will fully support Trinamool Congress in the elections.
Speaking at News18 event Rising Uttar Pradesh in Lucknow on Wednesday, Yadav said, “Few days back I spoke to Mamata ji and we have ensured full support to her. We have said that all our workers will support her. The win of Mamata ji will be the win of West Bengal and the win of Samajwadi Party as well. The day results of assembly elections are out in West Bengal, their allied parties will come to UP.”
Speaking on the recent controversial statement by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over North Indians, the SP chief said, “I have lived in South for a long time and studied in Mysore. I want to say that people from South India are very kind and good. I haven’t seen or heard what he (Rahul Gandhi) has said. I am not sure in which or what context he had said this. People of India are very intelligent. They will vote smartly this time.”
He added, “UP CM Yogi Adityanath is going for campaigning in such states where people don’t speak Hindi. He should focus more on his state UP and its people. They tried to frame us in a recent Hathras incident but instead the culprit had links with BJP. The government is doing fake encounters. We have pics of the culprit with many BJP leaders.”
