Political parties are quick to pile on to a winner. Here's how they do it.

Mumbai: Political parties are quick to pile on to a winner. The BJP started a party convention in Mumbai on Tuesday with the Oscar-winning song Jay Ho!.

At the meet, BJP's prime ministerial candidate LK Advani was handed over a cheque of Rs 11 crore as election fund by the Mumbai unit of the party.

The Jai Ho effect was so strong that the song was played on the dais when Advani was felicitated with a silver conch and a bronze statue of Shivaji.

"After the 26/11 terror attacks, Mumbai, the commercial and entertainment capital of India, is once again in global focus. But this time, it is for a happy moment," Advani, a film buff, said at a party function.

"But, I am sure, its global success is an important landmark in the history of Indian cinema. I was sure that AR Rahman will achieve much more success at international level. I am happy that the day has finally come,” he added.

It's not just BJP that has been trying to cash in on Slumdog Millionaire's success.

The Congress, too, lost no time in taking credit for Slumdog’s success at the Academy Awards.

The Government has given itself credit for the "conducive atmosphere" that's contributing to an "achieving India".
