With 148 Universities, India Beats China in QS Asia University Rankings 2024, IIT Bombay Best in Country
QS Asia University Rankings 2024: India has surpassed China which featured 133 universities and Japan with 96 universities. A total of 856 universities have been listed in total

The Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings: Asia 2024 has been released and features 148 Indian universities, which is the highest among all countries. India has surpassed China which featured 133 universities and Japan with 96 universities. A total of 856 universities have been listed in total. Last year, India featured 118 universities.

Among the Indian varsities, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay) grabbed the top spot with rank 40 followed by IIT Delhi at rank 46, and IIT Madras at rank 53. Next, IISc Bangalore has secured rank 58 and IIT Kharagpur has got rank 59. Further, Delhi University, IIT Kharagpur, and IIT Kanpur have secured positions in the top 100 universities in Asia.

“Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IITB) has been ranked as the best university in Southern Asia, one of six Indian universities to be in the top 10 universities for the sub-region. This year’s QS Asia University Rankings includes 280 universities from Southern Asia, representing a range of study destinations including Bangladesh, Iran and Pakistan as well as India,” states the official website.

“The increasing visibility of Indian universities in the QS rankings reflects the dynamic expansion of India’s higher education landscape. While the significant growth in the number of Indian institutions and their research contributions marks a noteworthy development in the region’s educational profile, it also illuminates the path ahead for India to further elevate its standing in the global academic community,” said Ben Sowter, Senior Vice President at QS.

Peking University, Beijing has topped the QS World University Rankings: Asia 2024. As per the official website, the university achieved a perfect score for academic reputation which was one of the 11 indicators used to compile the rankings. Peking University is followed by the University of Hong Kong at rank 2 and National University of Singapore (NUS) at rank 3. Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, and Tsinghua University Beijing have both secured rank 4 overall in Asia.
