Some users of X (formerly Twitter) called it a mockery of the whole system while some said even negative marks can get one a PG medical seat

After the Medical Counselling Committee’s (MCC) decision to reduce the NEET PG 2023 counselling qualifying percentile to ‘zero’, several medical graduates and students expressed their disappointment. The National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test Post Graduate (NEET PG ) cut-off till now was set at 50 per cent but now students with 0 percentile can apply for the PG medical seats.

Some users of X (formerly Twitter) called it a mockery of the whole system while some said even negative marks can get one a PG medical seat. Users have also questioned whether reducing the cut-off will ensure that the “standard of medical education and the healthcare system will not be sacrificed.”

“Even Doctors Who Have Scored No Marks in NEET PG Can Now Become Specialists. Money alone counts for this govt…no standards, principles or quality!” said one X user. While another said, “Soon After ZERO Cutoff of #NEETPG2023, Auctions of seats are starting like Big billion sale!”

The Health Ministry said the decision was made to ensure that no PG medical seat goes vacant. Around 2000-3000 PG medical seats go vacant every year. To fill up the vacant seats, the ministry will begin fresh registration and choice for NEET PG round 3 soon.
