Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday addressed the beneficiaries of the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra and launched an initiative to increase the number of Jan Aushadhi Kendras, which sell medicines at subsidised rates, from 10,000 to 25,000

The Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra is being undertaken across the country to attain saturation of flagship schemes of the Government by ensuring that the benefits of these schemes reach all targeted beneficiaries in a time-bound manner.

The prime minister also launched the Pradhan Mantri Mahila Kisan Drone Kendra. The Kendra will provide drones to women Self Help Groups (SHGs) so that this technology can be used by them for livelihood assistance.

Under this, at least 15,000 drones will be provided to women SHGs in the course of the next three years. Women will also be provided the necessary training to fly and use drones.

The initiative will encourage the use of technology in agriculture, the statement said.

Modi also interacted with beneficiaries of the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra via video conferencing on Thursday.

Balveer Kaur, Sarpanch of village Rangpur and a farmer from Arnia in Jammu district informed the prime minister that she has availed the benefits of multiple government schemes.

During the interaction, as someone pushed her way into the seating row where the Sarpanch was sitting, the Prime Minister, in a lighter vein, asked her to be mindful of her chair as people are coming in and new claimants are pushing. “Ab sarpanch wo hi ban jayengi”, he joked.

Prime Minister Modi also launched a program to increase the number of Jan Aushadi Kendras from 10,000 to 25,000 in the country. One of the major initiatives in this direction has been the establishment of Jan Aushadhi Kendra to make medicines available at affordable prices.

During the programme, the prime minister will dedicate the landmark 10,000th Jan Aushadi Kendra at AIIMS, Deoghar. It was launched with the aim of making healthcare affordable and easily accessible and has been the cornerstone of the prime minister’s vision for a healthy India.
