UPSC NDA Recruitment 2021: Physical Fitness Criterion for Women Candidates to be Announced Soon
UPSC NDA 2021: The criteria of physical fitness and other required eligibility for female candidates haven't been announced yet.

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has invited applications for the National Defence Academy (NDA 2021) from women candidates following the Supreme Court’s direction to the central government. The application process for women candidates has concluded but the criteria of physical fitness and other required eligibility for female candidates haven’t been announced yet.

According to the sources, the UPSC NDA exam is already behind its scheduled time and the commission will not postpone the exam. It is being speculated that the UPSC will soon announce all the prescribed parameters for women to avoid the postponement of the dates as many exams have already been delayed due to the Covid-19 situation across the country.

As per the official notification released by UPSC, the NDA exam is scheduled for November 14. The commission has not announced the number of seats and the eligibility criteria for female candidates and that has led to speculations that the NDA exam 2021 might get postponed.

In August 2021, the apex court, in a historic move, asked for the inclusion of women among candidates to take the NDA exam. The application process for the same lasted from September 24 to October 8. For male candidates, the application process was completed between June 9 to June 29.

The UPSC NDA II 2021 will hire for 400 posts including  370 in the national defence academy and 30 in the naval academy. The vacancies for women candidates are likely to be added to the existing vacancies.

The centre, in its affidavit to the SC, had mentioned that there is a need to prepare separate aspects of training and curriculum for women candidates including outdoor training, drills, swimming, sports, games, etc. These should be designed differently and to prepare the training curriculum for women candidates, proper analysis and expert opinion are required, it added. More details will be available soon on the official website of UPSC –upsc.gov.in.
