As protests in Tamil Nadu intensify over the Cauvery water dispute, a video has surfaced which shows a group of farmers holding dead rats in their mouths. The farmers were protesting against the government. The video comes from the Tiruchirappalli region. News agency ANI has uploaded the video on its official ‘X’ handle. It video went viral immediately after it was uploaded and it has received over 132K views so far.

The protest comes in as a gesture to show that if Karnataka does not release Cauvery water then the farmers will be forced to eat rat meat to survive. “A group of Tamil Nadu farmers in Tiruchirappalli holding dead rats in their mouths protest against the Karnataka government and demand the release of Cauvery water to the state from Karnataka,” read the caption of the viral video.

The video has gathered hundreds of responses from people across social media. Many people can be seen finding a reason behind holding dead rats.
As a part of protest, farmers are demanding the release of river water into their state. On the other hand, pro-Kannada outfits, and farmers in Karnataka’s Mandya also continued to agitate.

The DMK has said that Tamil Nadu chief minister MK Stalin is doing everything possible to handle the issue diplomatically. The Karnataka government’s argument is that it does not have enough water to send to its neighbouring state.
