The Netherlands Cricket Team were applauded by fans for their wonderful gesture made to help their new net-bowlers feel comfortable as they are set to assist the team in practice sessions.

The Netherlands Cricket team has started their preparation for the World Cup 2023, set to begin next month. The Dutch side has already landed in India ahead of the mega tournament. Sharing glimpses of their preparation, the team shared a video on social media, welcoming Indian net bowlers to their unit.

During their first practice session in the host country, the Netherlands were provided with four bowlers from different parts of India to help their batters in the nets. The Dutch players showed good sportsmanship, arranging a small induction ceremony to make the Indian bowlers feel more comfortable. The video of the session has been uploaded to platform X by the official account of the Netherlands’ Cricket team. The post reads, “Our first training session in India for the CWC23 began with a small induction ceremony for our four new net bowlers from different parts of India.”

The video has sparked several reactions from cricket fans on platform X. Indian fans were seemingly touched by the wonderful gesture of the Dutch cricketers. Most of them wished the European side good luck ahead of their campaign for international glory. A Dutch cricket page wrote, “Love everything about this!”

A fan was seen hailing the cricket team as one of his favourites as he hoped for them to make the semi-finals. “The Netherlands is my favourite this time as one of the four teams to get into the Semifinal”, he said.

Another user was moved by the wonderful video. She posted, “Aww that’s so nice of you guys”.

One of the fans could be spotted welcoming the Dutch team to India. “Welcome to India guys. Wishing you a wonderful stay”, he wrote.

More wishes poured in as a user could be seen wishing the team the best in their World Cup campaign. “Best of luck Netherlands I hope you perform well…”

“Most superb guys let’s get momentum forward or a day at a time”, wrote another fan.

Earlier this year, The Netherlands were competing for a shot at the 2023 World Cup during the qualifiers in Zimbabwe. A five-wicket haul from Dutch bowler Bas de Leede against Scotland on July 6 in the Super Six stage sealed their position as the 10th team to make the World Cup in India. The Dutch side featured at the marquee event for the first time in 1983. They had their best run from 2003 to 2011 which saw them qualify for three successive World Cup editions. However, they were unable to secure a spot in the previous two editions of the World Cup in 2015 and 2019.

The Netherlands will be opening their World Cup campaign against New Zealand on October 9.
