Indian Commentator Reacts to Henry Blofeld's 'Getting a bit Too Big for Their Boots' Jibe on Team India

Indian commentator Harsha Bhogle has reacted to Henry Blofeld’s jibe on the Indian cricket team after it suffered a defeat to Australia in the World Cup Final last week. Rohit Sharma and Co. played dominant cricket to reach the final with an unbeaten streak but they faltered on the big occasion and crumbled under pressure. Meanwhile, Australia stood up on the big occasion and went against all odds to become the World Champion for a record-extending sixth time in the 50-over format.

After the match, Blofeld, former BBC Test Match Special commentator, hailed the Australian team and took a jibe at the Indian team and wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter as they are getting too big for their boots.

“I couldn’t be more thrilled that the Aussies won the World Cup. Talk about going into the lions’ den and coming out first. Well done all of them. it won’t do India any harm. They’re getting a bit too big for their boots!” Blofeld wrote.

Bhogle reacted to his post and recalled the mindset he had to deal with when he started going to England during his initial days of work.

“When I first started going to England, this was the mindset I had to deal with. Superior. Condescending. Looking down at us. In the welcome change that has come about, the next generation is more aware, less snobbish and just easier to be with. It has allowed them to stay relevant and progress,” he wrote on X.

Travis Head hit a sparkling 137 to power Australia to a record-extending sixth World Cup title in a convincing six-wicket win over India on Sunday.

Chasing a tricky 241 for victory in the final, Australia slipped to 47-3 before left-handed opener Head hit his second century of the tournament to steer the team home with seven overs to spare.
