The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has announced that the Foreign Medical Graduate Exam (FMGE) for 2024 is expected to be held in January 2024. The exact date and time for the FMGE 2024 exam will be disclosed later. Candidates planning to take this exam can check the official notice on the official website, natboard.edu.in. The exam will be conducted online in a Computer Based Test (CBT) format at various test centres across the country.
As per the official notice, “The applicants who are desirous to appear in next Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) are hereby informed that National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) shall conduct the next FMGE tentatively in January 2024 on a Computer Based Platform at various test centres across the country.”
FMGE 2024: Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for FMGE 2024, candidates must be Indian citizens or Overseas Citizens of India. Candidates should have completed their primary medical qualification, which is a recognized qualification for practicing medicine in the country where the awarding institution is located. They also need to have completed their final examination for the primary medical qualification and the results should have been declared.
Candidates must have obtained an ‘Eligibility Certificate’ from the National Medical Commission (formerly the Medical Council of India). They must have successfully cleared the ‘National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test for Admission to the MBBS course.’
FMGE 2024: Exam Pattern
The FMGE 2024 will have 300 multiple-choice questions split into two sections, and candidates will get 150 minutes for each section. The December session of the FMGE 2023 exam is likely to take place in 40 different test cities across India. To qualify for the FMGE, candidates should be medical graduates who earned their primary medical qualification abroad and are either Indian citizens or overseas citizens of India.
The FMGE exam acts as a screening test for medical graduates who want to practice medicine in India. It is conducted twice a year by NBEMS and is open to Indian citizens and Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs) who wish to obtain a registration certificate from the National Medical Commission (NMC) or their respective State Medical Council (SMC).
