CBSE Opens Regional Office and Centre of Excellence in Dubai, Check Details
The new Regional Office and Centre of Excellence (COE) in Dubai shall commence its functioning from the academic session 2024–25 onwards

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has published an official notification informing about the opening of a new regional office and Centre of Excellence (COE) in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The new office was made after the approval of the Controlling authority of the Board, Ministry of Education, Government of India. The regional office shall commence its functioning from the academic session 2024–25 onwards.

“Consequent upon the approval of the affiliation committee in its meeting held on May 09, 2023 and ratification by the governing body in the meeting held on June 14, 2023 and subsequent approval of the controlling authority of the board i.e., the secretary, Ministry of Education, Govt of India, a new regional office and centre of excellence is being opened in Dubai, United Arab Emirates,” read an official notification by CBSE.

The notification further mentioned that all foreign schools affiliated with the CBSE board will come under the jurisdiction of the regional office in Dubai. The Centre of Excellence, Dubai, will start its training activities after the operationalisation of the new regional office, CBSE informed.

The official notice concluded, “Henceforth, the jurisdiction of the Regional Office, Delhi (East) shall remain the same except for Foreign Schools from the Academic Session 2024-25 onwards.”

While addressing the gathering at the ‘Ahlan Modi’ diaspora event in Abu Dhabi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the academic part of India’s relationship with the UAE. He said, “More than 1.5 lakh Indian students are studying in UAE schools. The master’s course was started at the IIT Delhi campus here last month, and a new CBSE office will be opened soon in Dubai. These institutions will help provide the best education to the Indian community here.”

Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced plans to establish an office of the CBSE in Dubai last year. The minister, during his three-day visit to Abu Dhabi, said that UAE-India relations are in very good condition today. India and the UAE have strong ties in the strategic partnership, especially in education and skills. An Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) is being opened in the UAE, and many leading universities of India are already functioning there. Adding further, he said that more universities may come in the near future. There are more than 100 CBSE schools that are operational in the UAE and India is going to open a Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) office there soon.
