Babar at Shaheen Afridi’s Wedding: Star Players Hug Each Other, Send Positive Vibes Before World Cup

All is well in the Pakistan dressing room and the latest social media post of skipper Babar Azam has testified it publicly. Several media reports claimed a verbal spat between him and fast-bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi following their loss to Sri Lanka in the Super Four which knocked them out of the Asia Cup 2023 last week. It was learned that Babar expressed his displeasure with the performances of the senior players, urging them to perform better. But Afridi retaliated and asked the captain to at least praise those who did well.
However, on Tuesday, social media was overwhelmed after seeing them together at the pacer’s wedding. Afridi, who tied the knot with former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi’s daughter Ansha, clicked a photo with his captain which has now gone viral on social media.
Babar took to the microblogging site X to congratulate his teammates.

Earlier on Tuesday, Shaheen also posted a photo with Babar with an interesting caption that read, “Family”.

Meanwhile, a senior member of the Pakistan men’s cricket team also quashed the reports of a verbal spat between Babar and Afridi.
“The team’s sole focus is on cricket, and we are not concerned about the critics. Losing a match gives our critics an opportunity to voice their opinions, but these are merely negative speculations,” the player was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
The cricketer, whose identity wasn’t revealed, further said a team meeting did take place but the discussion was a productive one rather than argumentative.
“In the team meeting, everyone shared their thoughts, but there is no truth to the rumours of a verbal altercation or the coaching staff needing to intervene. Everyone left the meeting together, and many teammates travelled back to Pakistan on the same flight,” he added.
