Karan Johar hosted Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor in the recent episode of Koffee With Karan 8. During the episode, the filmmaker brought up Sridevi’s name a few times, including the interview in which Sridevi said he didn’t want Janhvi Kapoor to act. The interview Karan was referring to was done in 2017 and Sridevi had not only said that she was not on board with Janhvi’s acting career but said that she wanted to see her tie the knot instead.
Speaking with Mid-Day in 2017, Sridevi had opened up about Janhvi’s acting career. “She wanted to do the film and initially, I wasn’t in favour. I don’t think it’s a bad industry. I am a creation of this world. But, as a parent, it would give me greater joy to see her married. But her happiness matters more, and if she does well as an actress, I will be a proud mother,” Sridevi said.
Nevertheless, Sridevi jumped on board of Janhvi’s career decision and was even aware of ‘every detail of her (Jhanvi) career.’ In the same interview, Sridevi said she and Janhvi are like friends. “We are like friends. We spend a lot of time together. Our routine is always centered around each other,” she said.
Appearing on Koffee With Karan 8, Janhvi confirmed Sridevi was not on board of her acting career and felt that Khushi Kapoor would be a better fit for the industry.
Sridevi died in February 2018. She was attending Boney Kapoor’s nephew, Arjun Marwah’s wedding. she died of accidental drowning. Speaking about her death on KWK, Janhvi told Karan Johar that she heard Khushi ‘wailing’ in her room. However, Khushi stopped crying the moment she noticed Janhvi was ‘hauling and crying.’
On the work front, Janhvi has a few projects in the pipeline. These include Mr. & Mrs. Mahi and Devara with Jr NTR.
