Recently, Meera Chopra’s statement talking about her fatigue with struggles in showbiz went viral on social media. The actress, who debuted in Bollywood with 1920: London and featured in a few other films, shared in an interview with IndiaToday.in that she’s tired of proving her talent to people. Meera also clarified that she never wanted to use the names of her cousins, Priyanka Chopra and Parineeti Chopra, to progress in her career.
Speaking about her recent comment, Meera Chopra told the entertainment portal that she is genuinely ‘tired’ of the struggles, which have become a ‘truth’ in her life. Having spent nearly nine years in the industry with only four projects to her credit, Meera clarified that she doesn’t mean to give up the fight. “I have been in the industry for almost nine years now and have hardly done four projects. What I didn’t mean is that I would stop fighting though. I should be getting more roles, which I am not and I am tired of running behind people. This is why there should be more movies like Safed where I can honestly and truly show what I can do. I think people may not know that I am a good actor,” she said.
Meera Chopra took a swipe at star kids, noting that many non-actors get lead roles because of their family connections. She urged for a shift, saying that talent should take precedence over family ties. “They come from film families or know people in the industry. This has to stop and talent needs to move head. Audiences should start valuing talent, that’s why we all are here,” she said, adding, “I didn’t know where it would lead me. I am part of the family, but it wasn’t like when I was not getting roles, there was someone behind pushing me ahead. No one was picking up the phone to say this is my sister, give her work. That did not happen and I never wanted that either. I never wanted to play the family card and get work through that”.
She is seen in Sandeep Singh’s directorial, Safed. Priyanka’s other cousin, Mannara Chopra, is in Bigg Boss 17.
