A Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) officer was severely injured after being hit by a speeding car on Sunday at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport check post. The officer, identified as Rahul Suresh Sharma, was hit by a BMW car while inspecting vehicles at the checkpoint.
Preliminary investigation found that a speeding car occupied by five passengers hit the officer while the latter was working. All the occupants of the car were arrested by the Sahar police station and a case was registered against the driver under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 279 (Any person driving vehicle in a negligent manner can face imprisonment or a penalty or both.), 338 ( Driving which causes grievous hurt to any person can lead to two years imprisonment and a fine or both) and relevant sections of the Motor Vehicle Act.
The injured officer was immediately taken to the nearby hospital for treatment.
In another incident near Mumbai, a biker died after being hit by another vehicle coming from the opposite direction on Pipeline Road in Bhiwandi. The deceased, Subhash Keshri Naik, was heading towards Bhiwandi from Pogaon, police said.
The accused, identified as Kalim Shaikh and Vayesh Amjad Ansari, were coming from the opposite direction in their vehicle when they collided with Naik. All of the three sustained injuries and were rushed to nearby hospital where Naik was declared brought dead.
The accused, Shaik and Ansari, were referred to other hospital in Bhiwandi.
