American Actor Jonathan Majors has been grabbing headlines for all the wrong reasons. He has reportedly been convicted of physical violence towards his former girlfriend. In his initial interview since the recent trial, the 34-year-old Marvel actor expressed feeling “shocked and afraid” after being found guilty of assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari. Speaking with ABC News anchor Linsey Davis on Good Morning America, Majors questioned the verdict, emphasising on the evidence presented by both the prosecution and his defense. The Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania star noted that despite the challenges in his personal life and career, he felt compelled to share his side of the story.

“Felt like it was time as a lot has happened not only in my personal life but also in my career in the culture,” said Majors.

“It’s about responsibility and coming forward and being brave and giving my part of the story,” he added.

While acknowledging the difficulty of the situation, Majors highlighted the support he receives from loved ones, though he revealed not having seen his daughter due to the ongoing case.

“I’m really blessed. I’m surrounded by people who love me, and who care about me. But this has been very, very, very hard, and very difficult, and confusing in many ways but I’m standing,” Majors said.

Responding to Majors’ interview, his former girlfriend Jabbari’s attorney, Brittany Henderson, asserted that Majors fails to take accountability for his actions and criticised his remarks about the jury system. Henderson suggested that Majors’ lack of remorse might impact the sentencing decision.

Henderson said, “His denigration of our jury system is not dissimilar from the above-the-law attitude that he has maintained throughout this legal process. The timing of these new statements demonstrates a clear lack of remorse for the actions for which he was found guilty and should make the sentencing decisions fairly easy for the Court,” as reported by People.

Following a split verdict on December 18, 2023, actor Majors was found guilty of misdemeanor assault in the third degree and harassment in the second degree, with the jury dismissing charges related to intent and aggravated harassment.

The charges stemmed from an alleged altercation between Majors and Jabbari in Manhattan’s Chinatown in March. After the verdict, Priya Chaudhry, Majors’ defense lawyer, emphasised the jury’s disbelief in Jabbari’s account but expressed disappointment in the reckless conduct finding, as per People.

As of now, Majors might face a potential one-year jail sentence during his sentencing on February 6.
