The mini-auctions for the Women’s Premier League have seen some interesting bids coming in from the various franchises taking part here. Among those bids was the acquisition of Vrinda Dinesh who is the first uncapped player to get bought for over one crore.
The UP Warriorz managed to get the services of the Karnataka batter for a massive price tag of 1.3 crores. Former Indian cricketer and now commentator, Anjum Chopra spoke with JioCinema as part of their coverage of the WPL auctions. She reacted to the big purchase by the UP Warriorz, “It’s a good buy but Rs 1.3 crore is big money.”
Chopra also added,” I am wondering where they will slot Vrinda Dinesh in. Yes, it’s nice to get a youngster in but they already have Shweta Sehrawat and Parshavi Chopra.”

The UP Warriorz managed to finish at third spot in the league table for the first season where they were defeated by the Gujarat Giants in the eliminator.
Chopra shared her concerns for the two U23 players in the UP squad namely Shweta Sehrawat and Vrinda Dinesh. She spoke,” When you get someone like Vrinda Dinesh, you want some freshness in the squad and you can get her to open the innings with Alyssa Healy but that also puts pressure on Kiran Navgire.”

Abhinav Mukund also reacted Delhi Capitals’ auction as well. The Delhi Capitals’ side was the joint most-expensive player at the auctions with a 2 crore bid for Annabel Sutherland from Australia. Mukund added,” DC were pretty much done with the auction after spending Rs 2 crore on Sutherland.” He also said,” Overall, it’s a great pick for Delhi Capitals.” The former Indian cricketer believes that the addition of Sutherland could mean that Jess Jonasen makes way for the expensive Aussie all-rounder.
