Twenty-seven years after the death of legendary Bollywood actor Raaj Kumar, his wife Gayatri Pandit passed away on November 28, aged 69. After Rajkumar’s death, his three children lived in Mumbai with their mother Gayatri Pandit. Puru Raajkumar, Panini Raajkumar and Vastavikta Pandit have been taking care of their ailing mother for quite some time. Puru Raajkumar had also tried his hand in acting but all of the films that he appeared as a lead in failed. His only memorable role remains that of a terrorist in the hit film Mission Kashmir.
Gayatri Pandit was an Anglo-Indian by birth. Her original name was Jennifer Pandit and was an air hostess by profession. She had made Raaj Kumar on a flight in the early 1960s and both fell in love with each other. After marriage, Jennifer changed her name to Gayatri according to Hindu customs.
Their daughter, Vastavikta, ventured into acting with a single film titled Eight: The Power of Shani. However, she garnered attention for a different reason in the past. Vastavikta made headlines for stalking actor Shahid Kapoor and claiming to be his wife. The incident led Shahid Kapoor to file an FIR against her for stalking. Both had initially met at Shaimak Davar’s dancing classes, where Vastavikta developed feelings for Shahid. When Shahid did not reciprocate, her affection turned into obsession, leading to instances of stalking, including obstructing his activities and sitting on the bonnet of his car. In 2012, Shahid filed a formal complaint against Vastavikta.
Raaj Kumar, the legendary actor and their father, passed away on July 3, 1996, at the age of 69 due to throat cancer. Unfortunately, none of his children continued his cinematic legacy.
