The 2005 action series Avatar: The Last Airbender was one of the popular animated shows on Nickelodeon. Inspired by the characters and the story, Netflix has now come up with the live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender, bearing the same title. Created by Albert Kim, the official trailer of the upcoming series was dropped by the makers recently. This much-anticipated Netflix adaptation will have eight episodes and will premiere on the OTT platform on February 22. The story revolves around an Avatar named Aang who must master the four elements of nature — fire, water, earth, and air to restore balance in the world, threatened by the Fire Nation.
The visually captivating trailer opens with an enormous ship braving the currents of the ocean, against the backdrop of an overcast sky. “The Fire Nation is embarked on a dark path. And the world might never recover. It needs you Aang," says the narrator in the background. Shooting balls of fire illuminate the night sky, while others are shown to have a special affinity with the nature element. The mission is to bring Anang, a young boy with superpowers to stop the Fire Nation from destroying everything. Guided by two friends — Sokka and Katara, the little boy hones his skills to destroy the imminent danger.
There is also a reference to a fantastical beast named “a flying ball of fur", which is a curious-looking creature. Dragons and several otherworldly animals take the audience to a fictional world, where Anang must take an “action-packed quest to save the world and fight back against the fearsome onslaught of Fire Lord Ozai." But with Crown Prince Zuko swearing to capture him and his friends, their path to victory will be full of obstacles. High-octane action sequences and nailbiting period warfare with ample natural elements promise an edge-of-the-seat watch.
