'When I Die...': Amitabh Bachchan Shared His Plans For His Property, Decided It With Jaya Bachchan
In an old interview, Amitabh Bachchan spoke about treating his children, Shweta Bachchan Nanda and Abhishek Bachchan equally.

Amitabh Bachchan shared how his property will be tackled after his death. In an interview in 2011, the actor was talking about raising his children and an equal approach when he brought up his supposed will. He revealed he would divide his property between his children, Shweta Bachchan Nanda and Abhishek Bachchan, equally.

“I had decided on one thing: that I would not differentiate between them,” Amitabh had said in an interview with Rediff. “When I die, whatever little I have will be equally divided between my daughter and my son — there is no differentiation. Jaya and I decided on that long time back. Everybody says that the girl is paraya dhan, she goes to her husband’s house, but in my eyes she is our daughter, she has the same rights Abhishek has,” he added. Coincidentally, last year, Amitabh gifted his bungalow, Jalsa, to Shweta Bachchan Nanda. At the time, it was valued at Rs 50 crores.

In the same conversation, Amitabh opened up about his bond with his son, Abhishek Bachchan. He said that he treats him as a friend. “I had decided much before Abhishek was born that if I had a son he would be my friend rather than a son, and the day he started wearing my shoes, he became my friend. So now I treat him as a friend. I very rarely look upon him as a son. I am concerned about him as a father, I would look after him as a father, I would advice him as a father, but when I talk to him, we talk as friends,” he said.

Amitabh Bachchan and his family were recently in the news after they were named the fourth richest Bollywood entity by Hurun India Rich List 2024. The net worth of the Bollywood superstar’s family was reported to be Rs 1,600 crore. While Amitabh is yet to comment on it, it comes as no surprise that the family has been ranked among the Top 5 richest Bollywood entities in the list. The actor and his family members have been in the news for the last two years for buying different types of properties.
