The landslides that took place in the district of Wayanad, Kerala have left the people staying in that area in distress. The death toll has already reached over 300 with more than 200 injured. Several celebrities from around the country have extended their condolences to the people who are suffering due to the environmental disaster. Many of them have also donated for the betterment of their life. The government has posted thousands of NDRF and rescue officials. Mohanlal took to Facebook to thank the officials for their diligent duty towards the betterment of the citizens of the country. The actor posted some pictures of the rescue operations that took place in the affected areas and captioned it, “I salute the courage of the selfless volunteers, policemen, Fire & Rescue, NDRF, army soldiers, government officials, and every person working tirelessly to provide relief to the victims of the Wayanad disaster. I am grateful for the efforts of my 122 Infantry Battalion, TA Madras, who have been at the forefront of the relief mission. We have faced challenges before and emerged stronger. I pray that we stand united and show the strength of our unity in this difficult time. Jai Hind!"
The actor earlier shared another post urging the public to avoid spreading false information regarding the incident. He spoke about the importance of staying safe and responsible. He wrote, “In light of the ongoing heavy rainfall and the natural disaster, please make every effort to stay safe. Fully abide by the government orders and avoid travel as much as possible. As per media reports, actor Mammootty’s charitable trust stepped up to provide aid and support in the affected areas at the request of Mohanlal. Adding to it, Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan has mentioned that saving the lives of the victims is the priority of the government. Actor Mammootty and Dulquer Salmaan reportedly donated Rs 20 lakh and Rs 15 lakh respectively to the Chief Minister’s distress relief fund. The actors handed over the donation to Minister P. Rajeev.
