Vicky Kaushal, who recently appeared in the comedy film Bad Newz, has solidified his reputation as a remarkable actor. Throughout his decades-long career, he has consistently impressed audiences with his exceptional talent. In a recent interview, Vicky discussed the success of Bad Newz at the box office, his upcoming projects, brand endorsements and more. He shared that when selecting scripts, he first seeks guidance from his father, veteran action director Sham Kaushal and then consults his wife, Katrina Kaif.
In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Vicky was asked who among the three actors in his household provides the most accurate advice and has the best knowledge about the box office. Vicky shared that although his family encourages him to follow his heart and instincts when selecting scripts, he consults his father for script-related advice and then turns to his wife Katrina. He also shared that post the release of his film, he relies on his dad once more as he keeps a close watch on industry trends, including trade and box office performance.
“All of them keep saying just listen to your heart and listen to your own instincts when it comes to scripts. But when I have to go for advice, I will go first to my dad and then Katrina if its script-related. And post the release is my dad. He is really following up on films in terms of trade and box office and everything,” Vicky told Bollywood Hungama.
Vicky will be seen next in the historical drama film Chhava where he takes on the role of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the Maratha leader and son of the renowned Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Rashmika Mandanna will be seen essaying the role of his wife, Yasubai, in the film.
When asked what motivated him to do Chhava, Vicky Kaushal expressed his enthusiasm for portraying an iconic figure like Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, especially given the historical connection with Mumbai. “West need Avengers to imagine their heroes. We have our superheroes in the past and when you get an opportunity like that, you just take it up,” he added.
Vicky also shared about his experience working with co-star Rashmika, calling her the “sweetest person.” “She is amazing. I don’t think I have ever met a person who is so full of warmth and positivity all the time. When she comes on set, there is just a vibe of positivity. She is the sweetest person and most like collaborative person. And I really had great time working with her in Chhava. We meet each other and can’t keep a straight face, we just start smiling. She is full of joy and I don’t know how she manages that,” he said.
Chhava is directed by Laxman Utekar and produced by Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films. The film is scheduled to release on December 6, 2024.
