Thalapathy Vijay’s Pokkiri To Re-release In Theatres On June 21

We have seen many films gaining significant limelight after re-releasing in the theatres. Ghilli, starring Thalapathy Vijay, performed marvellously at the box office upon its re-release. Fans were amazed by the re-release as they got the chance to enjoy the film on the big screen. In a recent development, Thalapathy Vijay’s another film is all set to hit the theatres again after 17 years of release in 2007. Pokkiri is set to re-release on June 21, ahead of the actor’s 50th birthday on June 22. The distributor of the film, Karan Ayngaran posted on his social media handle to announce the re-release of the film in theatres.

Sharing the poster on X (formerly Twitter), the distributor captioned it: “Attention, fans of #ThalapathiVijay! The wait is finally over. #Pokkiri, the iconic film that cemented Thalapathy Vijay’s status as King of India, is returning to the big screen from 21st June to celebrate VIJAY’s 50th birthday.”

Soon after the distributor shared the news on social media, it went viral creating a massive buzz among the fans. One user commented, “This is great news! Eagerly waiting to see the king of cinemas on the big screen”. Another user wrote, “Perfect film to watch in the theatres. Will wait for the re-release.” Other users have commented with fire and heart emojis to express their excitement for the re-release.

Pokkiri was released in 2007. The film attracted significant popularity soon after its release. Alongside Thalapathy Vijay, the film features popular faces like Asin Thottumkal, Prakash Raj, Sriman and Mukesh Tiwari. It was directed by Prabhu Deva. He himself also penned the screenplay of the film. The story of the film was written by Puri Jagannadh, while it was produced by Ramesh Singanamala. The music of the film was composed by Mani Sharma and the cinematography was done by Nirav Shah.
