Rubina Dilaik on Avoiding Paps at the Airport, Says 'She Had Just Got News of Her Aunt’s Demise'

Bigg Boss 14 winner Rubina Dilaik upset her fans last week after a video of her  snubbing paparazzi at the airport surfaced online. The actress was jetting off to Chandigarh and did not wait to greet or respond to anyone at the airport. She was criticised massively after fans thought she ignored the paparazzi at the Mumbai airport in a show of attitude and arrogance.

In the clip, which went viral, Rubina remained tight-lipped when a photojournalist asked her, “are you upset with us?” Rubina chose to ignore the paps who were trying to talk to her and kept mum and proceeded towards the entrance gate. She was at the receiving end of a lot of hatred online for what was dubbed as high-handedness.

Now coming clean, Rubina has addressed the ongoing allegations of her arrogance. In a recent chat with former Bigg Boss contestant, VJ Andy, Rubina justified her cold behaviour and revealed why she did not interact with the paparazzi at the airport. Finally breaking her silence, she said that just before the video was shot, she got the news of the death of her bua (paternal aunt).

Speaking to Andy on his YouTube chat show, Rubina shared that her aunt died of a heart attack in January, while she was inside the house. Her family kept the news from her as they knew that she was elated about her win. She got to know of her aunt’s loss when she told her parents about shooting a schedule in Chandigarh. Rubina added that she was curious why members of her extended family hadn’t been communicating with her on a regular basis all this while.

At the time, she felt that the reason they were not calling as often could be because she was busy. She said they did that as it was her grandmother’s instruction. She said that even though her family was reeling with the loss, they didn’t disclose anything as they didn’t want to dampen her celebratory mood.

The actress was heartbroken to know about the loss and wasn’t in the state of mind to talk to the paps at the airport. Rubina recently shot for Neha Kakkar’s music video Marjaneya with her husband Abhinav Shukla. Another music video is in the pipeline she will be seen opposite Paras Chhabra. The love ballad will be crooned by Asees Kaur.
