For south sensation Dhanush, giving earth-shattering films at the box office has become a common reality, and his 50th film, Raayan, is no different. The actor’s recent outing was released on July 26 and since then it has created huge waves at the box office. Even after days of release, the Raayan fever is continuing to rake in rave reviews from audiences and critics worldwide. This film also marked the second directorial venture for the actor.
Now, an important update regarding this film’s digital streaming partner is out for those who have yet to witness the magic of Dhanush in the Tamil action drama. Reports suggest that OTT platform Amazon Prime Video has taken over the OTT rights of this film. Mark your calendars! The Dhanush-starrer is going to stream on OTT from August 23.
Raayan will be available on the platform in Tamil with dubs in Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi in India and across 240 countries and territories worldwide.
Produced by Kalanithi Maran under the banner of Sun Pictures, Raayan boasts an ensemble cast including Selva Raghavan, Saravanan, SJ Suryah, Sundeep Kishan, Dushara Vijayan, Prakash Raj, Kalidas Jayaram, and Aparna Balamurali in key roles.
The film chronicles the story of four siblings who run away from their village and find refuge in the city. Manickam (essayed by Kalidas Jayaram) is a righteous college student, while Muthu (played by Sundeep Kishan) is impulsive, and Raayan, the protagonist, takes on the responsible father figure role. Their bond revolves around their sister, Durga (Dushara Vijayan).
The movie later shows how Raayan’s efforts to marry Durga embroil him in a power struggle between gangsters Durai (Saravanan) and Sethu (SJ Suryah). Amidst escalating challenges, the story unfolds to show how Raayan fights to protect his family.
As per reports, Raayan has collected over Rs 152 crore in its third week. The film has grossed Rs 79 crore at the Tamil box office and is currently the highest-grossing Tamil film of the year.
Dhanush will next direct the rom-com drama Nilavuku Enmel Ennadi Kobam. Starring Anikha Surendran, Mathew Thomas, Priya Prakash Varrier, and others, the film will be released on December 21.
