Kannada actor Darshan was arrested by Bengaluru police in Kamakshipalya over his alleged connection with a murder case last month. The 47-year-old was earlier taken into police custody in connection with the murder of an individual identified as Renukaswamy from Karnataka’s Chitradurga district, whose body was found on June 23.
Music composer Hamsalekha recently addressed the controversy involving actor Darshan during a talk in an interview. Expressing paternal affection, he referred to Darshan as his son, acknowledging the pain a parent feels when their child makes any mistake. Hamsalekha showed empathy towards Darshan, acknowledging both his struggle and his contributions to the Kannada film industry, which has garnered much acclaim and numerous awards under his influence.
Hamsalekha drew a parallel to the film industry in Kerala. Despite its challenges, the industry has reached new heights. He explained the role of actors in the industry, stating that while their job is to portray negative roles and emotions in their work, these should not transcend into real life. Hamsalekha’s remarks highlighted the redemption possible even after setbacks, noting that one can always rise after a fall, much like the hero’s comeback after the downfall in films.
Hamsalekha was introduced into feature films by director MN Prasad, who provided an opportunity to write a song for the film Triveni (1973). The song Neena Bhagavantha was his first release picturised on actor Udaykumar. His debut film as a musician was the 1981 unreleased film Rahuchandra. Officially, his cinema career started as a dialogue and lyric writer for the film Naanu Nanna Hendthi (1985). Later his popularity peaked only after his association with actor-director Ravichandran.
Besides, filmmakers have approached the film chamber to register titles for a movie based on the Renukaswamy murder case, involving Kannada actor Darshan. However, as per reports, these titles have been turned down as the case is still ongoing. As per a Times of India report, filmmakers have sought to register titles like D-Gang, Pattanagere Shed, and Khaidi No 6106. D-Gang refers to Darshan’s title D-Boss and Pattanagere Shed, where the murder allegedly took place.
