The Dexter universe is about to grow with the new series, Dexter: Resurrection, for which Michael C Hall is making a comeback as Dexter Morgan. Interestingly, the series will pick up where 2021’s Dexter: New Blood ended. But that’s not all! Hall will also delight fans as the inner voice of the young Dexter in Dexter: Original Sin, a prequel set in the 1990s with Patrick Gibson playing the titular role. Clyde Phillips, the show’s executive producer, made the exciting announcement at San Diego Comic Con (SDCC) and revealed that the series will go on floors from January, while Original Sin is set to air from December.
To everyone’s surprise, Hall himself was present at the event, who brought donuts for the team, and garnered enthusiastic applause from fans. Following the applause, Hall said as per Deadline, “It’s pretty heady. I’m having flashbacks of the first time I came to Comic Con. We were in this hall. That was 75 years ago? It’s amazing to still be alive. I cannot wait to watch this show. To a certain degree, I have a sense of what is coming. I’ve spent so much time with this character and to go back to have those sort of imaginative blanks filled in this technicolour show. It’s amazing.”

Chris McCarthy, Paramount Global Co-CEO added, “We are thrilled to have the brilliant Michael C Hall reprise his iconic role as Dexter Morgan in Showtime’s most successful series ever. While Dexter: Resurrection will appeal to the tens of millions of longtime fans, Dexter: Original Sin will introduce a whole new generation of viewers into this iconic series by starting from the beginning, which is sure to satisfy existing audiences as well.”
The original series, Dexter, began in 2006 and ran for eight successful seasons until 2013. The show followed the life of Dexter Morgan, a forensic expert who led a secret life as a serial killer. In 2021, New Blood brought the character back, which was set 10 years after the events of the original series ended. The limited series quickly became the network’s most watched and most streamed original programme. The new series is expected to premiere in the second half of 2025.
While fans wait for Michael C Hall return, Original Sin will keep everyone busy, which is scheduled to start from December. The series stars Patrick Gibson, James Martinez, Christina Milian, Reno Wilson, Alex Shimizu, Patrick Dempsey, Joe Pantoliano, Brittany Allen, Laura Moser, Randy Gonzalez, Aaron Jennings, Raquel Justice, Jasper Lewis, Carlo Mendez, Isaac Gonzalez Rossi and Roberto Sanchez.
