Actresses are coming forward with more revelations in the background of the Hema Committee report, which was released on August 19. The slew of allegations against Malayalam cinema actors gets a fresh take after actress Minu Muneer raised physical and verbal abuse allegations against Mukesh, Jayasurya, Maniyanpilla Raju, and Edavela Babu, including few other technicians. In a post on Facebook, Minu recalled the trauma she had to undergo on a film set way back in 2013. While sharing a video, she wrote, “I am writing to report a series of incidents of physical and verbal abuse I suffered at the hands of 1, Mukesh 2, Maniyan pilla raju, 3, idavela Babu, 4, Jayasoorya, 5, adv Chandrasekaran, 6, production controller noble and vichu, in the Malayalam film industry."
She further wrote that she was forced to leave the Malayalam film industry as the abuse became unbearable. “In 2013, I was subjected to physical and verbal abuse by these individuals while working on a project. I tried to cooperate and continue working, but the abuse became unbearable. As a result, I was forced to leave the Malayalam film industry and relocate to Chennai. I had spoken out against the abuse in an article published in Kerala Kaumudi, titled Minu Left Malayalam Industry for Unable to Cooperate with Adjustment", she added.
Minu Muneer further demands support to take action against them, saying, “I am now seeking justice and accountability for the trauma and suffering I endured. I request your assistance in taking action against their heinous actions. Thank you for your attention to this matter."
Earlier, Siddique resigned from the post following a rape allegation by a young actress. He took charge as the general secretary of the actors’ body, AMMA, last month. He said, “Yes, I’ve resigned from the post and officially informed President Mohanlal. I feel it’s not morally right to continue in the post in the wake of the rape allegation against me."
Director Ranjith also resigned from the post of Kerala Chalachitra Academy chairman following allegations of misbehaviour by a Bengali actress. He denied the allegations and said that they were baseless and politically motivated. He stated, “I do not want this issue to affect the status of the government of Kerala."
