Jr NTR Says He Won’t Pressure His Kids To Follow Family’s Footsteps Into Films: ‘History Sometimes Is Not Good’
Jr NTR claims he wants his children, Abhay and Bhargav, to carve their own paths and make their own mistakes while receiving family's guidance.

Devara star Jr NTR has opened up about continuing the family’s rich legacy in the film industry. The RRR star is the third generation actor from Nandamuri clan, following his grandfather NTR, father Harikrishna and uncle Balakrishna. In a recent interview with The Associated Press, Jr NTR claimed that he wants his children, Abhay and Bhargav, to carve their own paths without family’s burden and make their own mistakes while receiving family’s guidance. He revealed that he was never pressured to join the film industry and it was his personal choice to act. Before becoming a superstar, Jr NTR was a national level badminton player and a professional classical dancer.

The actor said, “My grandfather was an actor, my father was an actor, it’s not like he told me that ‘You have to be an actor.’ I was a national level badminton player when I was a kid, I was a professional classical dancer, and I used to travel around the world to perform. It’s made me so independent, to explore, to learn things, to do mistakes, to correct them with proper guidance, with proper friends, well wishers and family is obviously there, I just want to do the same thing to my kids.”

“Too much of history sometimes is not good for your kids is what I think. I would want to be the example to my kids rather than you know saying, ‘Oh you know what my father used to do,’ or ‘You know what my grandfather achieved,’ rather than that, I would want to be an example to my kids saying that, ‘You know what my father has achieved, I want to have a journey of my own, a story which is worth telling to my kids,’ I think that’s where I want to be known to my kids and I want to repeat what my father has given me the opportunity, the chance to explore and do something what they want to, on their own, rather than rubbing it on them,” Jr NTR added.

Jr NTR began his acting career as a child artist in films like Brahmarshi Viswamitra and Ramayanam. Years later, he made his official debut as a lead actor in the 2001 film Ninnu Choodalani. Currently, he is receiving praise for his performance in Devara: Part 1, also featuring Janhvi Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan. Soon, will start preparation for Part 2. On the other hand, he is set to star alongside Hrithik Roshan in Ayan Mukerji’s War 2, along with an upcoming untitled project directed by Prashanth Neel.
