Imran Khan Calls Comparisons With Ranbir Kapoor 'Unpleasant', Says 'Ugly Things Come Out And We...'
Imran Khan opened up about being pitted against Ranbir Kapoor in their early days.

Ranbir Kapoor and Imran Khan made their Bollywood debuts around the same time. While Ranbir Kapoor was seen in Saawariya in 2007, Imran debuted with Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na in 2008. As such, both actors were often compared to one another and pitted against each other. Imran Khan recently opened up about these comparisons and said that they left an unpleasant aftertaste.

Speaking to India Today, Imran said, “It’s unfortunate that it would always leave a very unpleasant aftertaste because that’s not how I viewed it and from my conversations with Ranbir back then, he never got into that thing either.”

He added, “My recollection of him is that he was also very… He took the craft very seriously. He is a cinephile. And he was also not engaging in that thing. This is the spicy stuff that they like to talk about in the gossip magazines so it leaves an unpleasant aftertaste but if neither of us are buying into it, then it doesn’t come into that part. I recall here and there a couple of particularly ugly things would come out and we would always make it a point to kind of reach out and say ‘Listen, aisa aisa hua hai, are we cool?’”

Meanwhile, Imran Khan is preparing to make his Bollywood comeback after a nine-year break, marking a significant moment in his career. Although it was earlier reported that Imran would star in Vir Das’ directorial debut, Happy Patel, he quickly dismissed the rumours. He told Times Entertainment, “It’s not true. Vir Das is directing and starring in Happy Patel. I am not in the film. They have just used a photograph of me as part of an in-film joke.” This left Imran Khan’s fans disheartened, who are eagerly awaiting his comeback after a long gap. He was last seen in Katti Batti in 2015.

As for Ranbir, after the smashing success of Sandeep Reddy Vanga directorial Animal, the actor is busy filming Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana. Ranbir will play Ram in the film and Sai Pallavi will play Sita. He will then be seen in Love and War with Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal, reuniting with Sanjay Leela Bhansali after his debut.
