South cinema legend Mammootty is gearing up for the release of his next, Turbo. Now, as per the latest reports, he is set to work with ace Tamil cinema filmmaker, Gautham Vasudev Menon in his Malayalam directorial. Gautham Vasudev Menon is reportedly preparing to direct his first-ever Malayalam project, which will star Mammootty as the lead. The reports state further that lady superstar Nayanthara will also feature in an important role. It is going to be bankrolled by Mammootty himself. An official announcement by the makers is still awaited. The reports are being shared by industry insiders, who are taking to their X handles for the details. In an earlier media interaction, Gautham Vasudev Menon expressed his desire to helm a Malayalam film. He said, “I am also looking to see if I can direct a film next year in Malayalam; I am in discussion with a couple of actors. I really want to work with Mammootty sir and also with Fahadh Faasil.” Mammootty and Gautham are going to share the screen space in the upcoming film, Bazooka.

Currently, Mammootty is preparing for the release of Turbo, his upcoming action-comedy project. It is directed by Vysakh, while its story and screenplay are done by Midhun Manuel Thomas. The film stars Mammootty, Sunil, Anjana Jayaprakash, Raj B Shetty and Kabir Duhan Singh among others. Mammootty is also the film’s producer, backing it via his Mammootty Kampany banner.

Gautham Vasudev Menon’s last directorial project was Joshua: Imai Pol Kaakha, released on March 1, 2024. It stars Varun, Raahei, Krishna and others. Ishari K Ganesh produced the film under the banner of Vels Film International while Karthik handled the music.

Mammootty and Gautham Vasudev Menon-starrer upcoming Bazooka is helmed by Deeno Dennis and produced under Yoodlee Films. It is expected to be released this year.
