FTII students to call off their hunger strike after government agrees to hold fresh talks

In what could be termed as a major breakthrough in the FTII controversy, the students of the Film and Television Institute of India in Pune has decided to call off their hunger strike after the govrenment has agreed to hold fresh talks. The students of the esteemed institute were on a hunger strike for the past 18 days.

FTII has been on strike for more than 100 days and classes have been cancelled in protest of the appointment of actor Gajendra Chauhan for the post of the Chairman of FTII. The meeting between the student boy and the government officials will take place in Film Division in Mumbai on 29th September. A doctor has been sent to the campus to monitor the condition of the students who were on hunger strike.

Several film celebrities and politicians like Rahul Gandhi and Arvind Kejriwal have came out in support of FTII in the recent past and urged the government to address the matter and remove Chauhan from the post.
