Over the past few days quite a few National award winning filmmakers such as Dibakar Banerjee and Anand Patwardhan have returned their awards and shown support for the FTII students who are protesting actor Gajendra Chauhan's appointment as chairperson. Speaking on the issue Tamil superstar Kamal Haasan said that he disagreed with the notion of returning awards and felt that it was 'futile'Moreover, the 'Indian' actor added "Intolerance must be defeated intellectually." The 60-year-old also clarified that he would not be returning his awards.
Actress Khushboo, however, echoed a different sentiment and called returning awards a civil way of protesting. She said "India has been intolerant earlier as well but what is happening now is spiralling in a big way and need to be put an end to it Cannot be silent about it"
