Kevin Costner’s Horizon: An American Saga might have had its share of criticism, but the film ended up receiving a seven-minute standing ovation at Cannes, reported Variety. Prior to the ovation, there were multiple instances of walkouts during the screening as many chose to leave the hall. Despite the mixed reception at the film festival, Costner expressed his gratitude and emotion as the audience cheered and chanted his name in unison. In the video, the 69-year-old was seen in tears of joy.

The actor, who produced, directed and even appeared in the upcoming four-part film series, got emotional as attendees at the Grand Lumiere Theatre applauded his work and chanted his name.
Later, he also thanked everyone and expressed gratitude. “I don’t speak French. I am sorry you had to clap that long for me to understand that I should speak. Such good people, such a good moment, and not just for me but for all the actors who came with me, for people who believed in me. It’s a funny business, and I’m so glad I found it. There’s no place like here. I will never forget this, and neither will my children,” he said before thanking everyone.
“There was no reason that this was going to happen, and it’s just another miracle in my life. Thank you so much for giving me this precious time. I hope it was worth it,” Costner concluded.
Social media has been flooded with reactions from fans, who are expressing their excitement and admiration for the film and the Hollywood star. A fan wrote, “There is no other actor like you! Mr. #KevinCostner thank you, thanks to your films, for transmitting to the public a sincere emotion, rare these days! #cannes2024 answered you: « Keviiiin! Thank you for choosing France.
