Yes, Bradley Cooper the Oscars empty-handed but the actor got his ‘two-minute’ moment to shine. The actor made a surprising cameo on an episode of Abbott Elementary that immediately followed the ceremony. Portraying himself, Bradley Cooper appeared briefly in Melissa’s classroom, where the students hilariously failed to recognise him during a show-and-tell session.
Months later, his name has been submitted for consideration in the Guest Comedy Actor category at the Emmys, marking a potential milestone in his career. ABC and award strategists have backed his nomination, highlighting the impact of his memorable guest appearance on the hit comedy series.

This comes at a time when the Television Academy has already changed the roles for submitting names in the guest actor categories. “A brief cameo appearance is not eligible for entry,” it states.
However, it still remains uncertain whether an actor like Bradley Cooper or Kevin Hart would constitute a cameo. “The minimum stand-alone and contiguous screen time (the performer has an ongoing engagement in the scene, on or off camera) for eligibility is 5% of the total running time of the submitted episode,” the academy further clarified. It is also explained that the changes have been made to ensure that the guest performer’s role is significant to the submitted episode.
With that said, while Cooper’s Abbott Elementary episode is 20 minutes and 31 seconds long, the actor must at least appear in 5 per cent of the runtime to be eligible. Considering his cameo was for a one-minute and 56-second scene, Cooper has a possibility of bagging the nomination.
On the work front, the Hangover alum is gearing up for the release of John Krasinski’s IF. He features as the voice cast for the character of a glass of ice water called Ice.
Kevin Hart’s Cameo In Abbott Elementary
On the other hand, Kevin Hart also made a cameo in the final minutes of Abbott Elementary’s recent episode, Mother’s Day. The 21-minute, 37-second episode had the comedian scene in the last minutes for around 28 seconds. However, upon not meeting the required eligibility, Variety has confirmed that Hart’s name was not submitted as a guest comedy actor at the Emmy Awards 2024.
