On May 14, the makers of Thalavan, directed by Jis Joy, surprised the viewers and dropped the film’s official trailer. The movie stars Biju Menon and Asif Ali as the main leads. The trailer begins with a voiceover about Asif’s character in the film, who is a straightforward guy. Biju’s character dismisses him, saying the former is beyond hope. Later, it is revealed that Asif is a subordinate police officer under Biju and conveys that soon they will be at loggerheads with each other during an investigation. The movie promises to be a police procedural with a mystery element.
The 2 minutes and 27 second-trailer is currently going viral. Within one day, the trailer had garnered 1,137,655 views. Viewers have shared their feedback in the comment box. One of the users wrote, “Asif Ali and Biju Menon’s combo is brilliant." Another one said, “Asif is not simply acting; he is just living in that character. Pure goosebumps overloaded." “Asif Ali never fails in his performance, whatever role he is assigned … good actor expression wise … and the mannerism exhibited in his character," commented the third user. The movie also stars an ensemble cast including Dileesh Pothen, Anushree, Miya, Kottayam Nazeer, Shankar Ramakrishnan, Joji K John, Dinesh, Anuroop, Nandan Unni, and Bilas. The film is penned jointly by Sharath Perumbavoor and Anand Thevarakkattu and is bankrolled by Arun Narayan and Sijo Sebastian under the banner of Arun Narayan Productions in association with London Studios.

On May 11, the makers of the film also dropped the theme song for the film. The song gives the perfect flavour of the film’s theme. The music of the film is composed by Deepak Dev, while the theme song is sung by famous Malayalam singer Anand Sriraj.
The Biju Menon and Asif Ali duo are all set to be seen together again after a three-year gap. Earlier, the duo worked together on several successful projects, like Sunday Holiday in 2017, Vijay Superum Pournamiyum in 2019, and Innale Vare in 2021.
