Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, known for pushing the boundaries of cinema with his unique storytelling approach, shared his thoughts on Vikramaditya Motwane’s latest film CTRL. The cyber-thriller, which stars Ananya Panday in a career-defining role, impressed Kashyap so much that he took to Instagram to applaud both the film and Ananya’s performance.
In his Instagram post, Kashyap shared the poster of CTRL and wrote, “@motwayne is out with another banger. Again pushing the boundaries of technology and storytelling. You cannot contain the man or put him in a box. Always braver than everyone around him.” He continued praising Motwane’s innovative approach, adding, “He has now gone and made this modern-day horror fable. It’s a thriller, it’s scary, it’s a nightmare with a career-best central performance by @ananyapanday.”
Kashyap also reflected on his longstanding relationship with Vikramaditya, revealing that Motwane had introduced him to several filmmaking techniques. “For me, he has always been the go-to person. He introduced me to my first still camera, taught me sound design, and the importance of it. Now, with CTRL, he has crafted a visually immersive experience.”
Ananya Panday, who plays Nella Awasthi in CTRL, was quick to respond to the filmmaker’s praise. She left a comment on his post, saying, “Love you,” accompanied by a heart emoji. Ananya’s co-star, Vihaan Samat, also chimed in with heart emojis, while producer Nikhil Dwivedi commented, “This writing is as good as the films you make.”
In CTRL, Ananya portrays Nella, an influencer who turns to Artificial Intelligence (AI) to eliminate her boyfriend, played by Vihaan, from her life after he betrays her. However, the AI begins to take control, leading to terrifying consequences. Kashyap emphasized the chilling atmosphere of the film, urging viewers to watch it with good headphones for the full experience.
CTRL, directed by Vikramaditya Motwane and co-produced by Nikhil Dwivedi, is now streaming on Netflix India. With a gripping narrative and stellar performances, the film explores the dangers of AI, offering a modern-day horror that resonates with today’s tech-driven world.
