Ali Fazal and Richa Chadha recently hosted a Jiu-Jitsu workshop in collaboration with MukkaMaar, empowering young girls through self-defense training.

Bollywood actors Ali Fazal and Richa Chadha recently took a significant step towards empowering young girls by organizing a unique self-defense workshop. In collaboration with MukkaMaar, a respected NGO dedicated to teaching girls self-defense and fostering their confidence, the couple arranged a special Jiu-Jitsu training session. The workshop was led by world champions Andressa Citra and Lucas Valente, offering the participants an unforgettable opportunity to learn from the best.

MukkaMaar, founded by actor Ishita Sharma, has been a driving force in teaching girls to assert themselves through martial arts and athletic training. This recent initiative brought together young girls from the NGO and world-class athletes to inspire and educate them in self-defense techniques.

Richa Chadha emphasized the broader impact of self-defense beyond physical skills, stating, “Self-defense isn’t just about fighting back; it’s about building confidence, resilience, and awareness. And when we learnt that Andressa would be interested, we put together this unique one-day workshop. We’re proud to be partnering with MukkaMaar Girls, an organization that has been empowering young girls through self-defense for years.”

Ali Fazal, who has been training in Jiu-Jitsu himself, highlighted the importance of providing young girls with role models. He shared, “I have been training in Jiu-Jitsu, and having the Mukkamaar children meet with Andressa meant that they’d have such a solid role model, in terms of what they can become. Especially for the young girls to meet a world champ and learn from her one-on-one, even if it was for a few hours, is so inspiring and fantastic for them.”

Ishita Sharma, the founder and CEO of MukkaMaar, expressed her gratitude and excitement about the workshop’s success, saying, “Andressa is absolutely inspiring, and you can tell that she is a world champion in the way she moves, speaks, coaches! Our fellows learnt some killer moves and we can’t wait to work with her again. Thanks to Richa and Ali for doing this and always having MukkaMaar’s back.”

Ali Fazal and Richa Chadha have long been advocates for gender equality and social justice, using their influence to support various causes. This recent initiative aligns with their ongoing efforts to empower young women. In a previous gesture, the couple celebrated the birth of their daughter by sharing sweets with the media and planting trees in their names in drought-affected areas, in partnership with the Nabhangan Foundation.

This workshop, which brought together the expertise of world-class athletes and the mission of MukkaMaar, marks another milestone in Ali Fazal and Richa Chadha’s commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of young girls. Through their support, the girls gained more than just self-defense skills—they gained confidence, inspiration, and the belief that they, too, can reach great heights.
