Actor and Shiv Sena leader Govinda was rushed to a hospital early this morning after accidentally shooting himself in the leg due to a misfire from his own licensed revolver. The incident occurred at approximately 4:45 AM while he was checking the weapon before heading out. Initial reports indicate that the bullet struck his knee, prompting immediate medical attention at CRITICare Hospital in Mumbai. As of now, Govinda’s family and team have not released an official statement regarding his condition.
According to sources, the actor was supposed to take an early morning flight to Kolkata. Govinda was admitted to the hospital at 5:15 AM, and he is now reported to be out of danger, according to sources at the hospital.
Govinda’s manager Shashi Sinha told ANI, “Actor and Shiv Sena leader Govinda was getting ready to leave for Kolkata. He was keeping his licensed revolver in the case when it fell from his hand and a bullet got fired which hit his leg. The doctor has removed the bullet and his condition is fine. He is in the hospital right now.”
Govinda is known for delivering comedy blockbusters like Coolie No. 1, Haseena Maan Jaayegi, Swarg, Saajan Chale Sasural, Raja Babu, Rajaji, Partner, and others. Govinda’s most recent appearance on the big screen was in the 2019 film Rangeela Raja, directed by Pahlaj Nihalani. Unfortunately, the movie was a commercial failure, leading Govinda to take a hiatus from acting since then.
Govinda may have stepped away from films since 2019, but there was a time when audiences eagerly awaited his new releases. In the 80s and 90s, he was one of Bollywood’s leading stars. However, his career began to decline over the years, with his last successful film being Partner, released in 2007.
After 2007, Govinda struggled to deliver another box office hit. He appeared in 13 films following Partner, but all of them, including low-budget projects like Rangeela Raja, failed to perform commercially. According to Box Office India, films such as Rangeela Raja, Friday, Aa Gaya Hero, Happy Ending, Kill Dil, Deewana Main Deewana, Loot, Naughty @40, Raavan, Do Knot Disturb, Life Partner, Chala Tala Chal, and Money Hai To Honey Hai were all deemed flops and disasters at the box office.
