A major collaboration seems to be on the cards between two big names from Bollywood and the Tamil film industry. Latest reports hint at a possible union between Aamir Khan and filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj. As per Pinkvilla, the duo recently had a meeting regarding several possibilities including a cameo in Rajinikanth’s highly anticipated film Coolie, a standalone feature, or both. A source quoted by Pinkvilla stated, “They have met and are exploring several options… we need to wait and watch to know what works out from either of the two options." It is to be noted that no official confirmation has been received from either side yet.
Moreover, a previous report also stated that Aamir Khan and Lokesh Kanagaraj would work together on a film to be produced by Mythri Movie Makers. Reportedly, these latest developments hint that the initial speculation could be true and lead to a blockbuster collaboration for fans. Furthermore, this could also mean Rajinikanth and Aamir Khan sharing the screen for the first time.
Lokesh Kanagaraj is currently shooting for Coolie, a high-octane action film with Rajinikanth. The film reportedly went on floors in July this year in Hyderabad. It is expected to hit theatres in the second half of 2025.
Coolie’s producers released a title teaser for the film recently, showing the superstar Rajinikanth in his fiery avatar knocking out anyone who tried to come his way. Anirudh Ravichander is composing the music.
Shruti Haasan and Rana Daggubati are also part of Coolie.
Meanwhile, Aamir Khan was last seen in the 2022 film Laal Singh Chaddha. The actor is now set to star in the sports drama film Sitaare Zameen Par, directed by RS Prasanna. This next project is based on the Spanish film Champions, released in 2018. The film slated for next year will cast Genelia Deshmukh as the female lead.
