Ageing is a natural process that cannot be stopped or reversed. Everything we do and experience in our daily life ranging from stress to eating habits to sleep cycle affects the speed at which our body ages. And, now, nutritionist Anjali Mukerjee is here to help us choose better in terms of what should we eat by shedding more light on it on her Instagram account. Anjali’s caption reads – “Nothing keeps your cells young, vibrant, and disease-free like eating fresh fruits & vegetables. They have a major antiaging impact on our overall health.” The fruits and vegetables she suggests to help with anti-ageing are:
Cabbage: Cabbage is rich in Indole-3-carbinol that helps with anti-ageing by controlling the estrogen levels.
Carrots: Carrots boost immunity, and may lower bad cholesterol levels. All these positive effects help immensely with de-ageing.
Grapes: Grapes contain amazing antioxidants that help fight free radicals in the body which eventually lowers the risk cancer.
Onions: This vegetable helps in thinning the blood. They also help increase good cholesterol levels in the body and have anti-inflammatory properties due to the presence of quercetin. All these factors help in anti-ageing.
Tomatoes: The abundance of lycopene, a powerful antioxidant, helps in the anti-ageing process by protecting our brain health and reducing the risk of cancer.
Spinach: Spinach is a green leafy vegetable that has lutein and folic acid. Lutien helps in decelerating the ageing process of the body and keeps our eyes healthy. The folic acid in this vegetable helps in DNA repair which is crucial for slowing down the ageing process.
